Doubts about Trump pro-growth agenda re-emerged as House speaker Ryan said no consensus on tax reform.
FOMC minutes showed members back Fed balance sheet trimming this year.
Some members also said equity prices quite high in relation to standard valuations.
Initial jobless claims are due out before the opening bell.
These will be followed by official nonfarm payrolls figures on Friday.
The dollar index was flat after Fed minutes.
Oil edged higher after losses on surprise rise in crude inventories.
