Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Food Producers, Mining and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 fell 0.26%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were International Airlines Group (LONDON:ICAG), which rose 3.63% or 21.50 points to trade at 613.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Persimmon (LONDON:PSN) added 2.45% or 41.00 points to end at 1716.00 and Coca Cola HBC AG (LONDON:CCH) was up 2.26% or 27.0 points to 1221.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tullow Oil Plc (LONDON:TLW), which fell 2.88% or 9.30 points to trade at 313.70 at the close. Associated British Foods (LONDON:ABF) declined 2.86% or 86.00 points to end at 2925.00 and Wolseley Plc (LONDON:WOS) was down 2.66% or 112.00 points to 4098.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1124 to 994 and 384 ended unchanged.

Gold for April delivery was up 0.35% or 4.20 to $1191.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.19% or 0.09 to hit $47.36 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.96% or 0.54 to trade at $55.38 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.56% to 1.4870, while EUR/GBP rose 0.40% to 0.7349.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 97.38.
