Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Mobile Telecommunications, Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 fell 0.00%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Hargreaves Lansdown Plc (LONDON:HRGV), which rose 3.44% or 35.00 points to trade at 1053.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Ashtead Group (LONDON:AHT) added 2.87% or 31.00 points to end at 1111.00 and Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LONDON:RBS) was up 2.59% or 10.00 points to 396.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Intu Properties Plc (LONDON:INTUP), which fell 3.27% or 12.30 points to trade at 364.10 at the close. Coca Cola HBC AG (LONDON:CCH) declined 3.05% or 36.0 points to end at 1143.0 and Hammerson Plc (LONDON:HMSO) was down 2.63% or 18.00 points to 665.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1220 to 855 and 380 ended unchanged.
Gold for April delivery was down 0.73% or 8.80 to $1199.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in April fell 2.78% or 1.51 to hit $52.78 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract fell 2.50% or 1.56 to trade at $60.97 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.46% to 1.5422, while EUR/GBP fell 1.06% to 0.7353.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.48% at 94.59.
