Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Electricity, Gas Water & Multiutilities and Pharmaceuticals & Biotechnology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 fell 0.24%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Tullow Oil Plc (LONDON:TLW), which rose 3.75% or 15.20 points to trade at 420.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Antofagasta (LONDON:ANTO) added 2.60% or 19.00 points to end at 750.00 and Coca Cola HBC AG (LONDON:CCH) was up 2.40% or 28.0 points to 1192.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fresnillo Plc (LONDON:FRES), which fell 4.38% or 38.50 points to trade at 840.50 at the close. Intertek Group (LONDON:ITRK) declined 3.35% or 87.00 points to end at 2508.00 and Centrica Plc (LONDON:CNA) was down 2.86% or 8.20 points to 278.80.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1063 to 1016 and 362 ended unchanged.
Gold for April delivery was up 0.36% or 4.40 to $1231.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in April rose 0.20% or 0.11 to hit $53.78 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract rose 0.38% or 0.23 to trade at $61.76 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.20% to 1.5364, while EUR/GBP rose 0.07% to 0.7402.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.10% at 94.33.
