Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Health Care Equipment & Services and Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 fell 0.16%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were BT Group (LONDON:BT), which rose 3.65% or 16.20 points to trade at 460.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Persimmon (LONDON:PSN) added 3.60% or 58.00 points to end at 1671.00 and Reckitt Benckiser Group Plc (LONDON:RB) was up 3.31% or 185.00 points to 5775.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tullow Oil Plc (LONDON:TLW), which fell 7.17% or 29.70 points to trade at 384.60 at the close. Hargreaves Lansdown Plc (LONDON:HRGV) declined 2.76% or 27.50 points to end at 968.00 and Morrison(Wm.)Supermarkets (LONDON:MRW) was down 2.34% or 4.30 points to 179.80.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1106 to 916 and 384 ended unchanged.
Gold for April delivery was down 0.70% or 8.60 to $1223.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in March fell 0.94% or 0.47 to hit $49.55 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract fell 2.01% or 1.16 to trade at $56.34 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.18% to 1.5227, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.7411.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.37% at 95.20.
