Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Food Producers, Mining and Food & Drug Retailers sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 fell 0.18%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Barclays (LONDON:BARC), which rose 2.67% or 6.65 points to trade at 255.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Aberdeen Asset Management Plc (LONDON:ADN) added 2.34% or 10.10 points to end at 440.90 and Ashtead Group (LONDON:AHT) was up 1.96% or 21.00 points to 1094.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Randgold Resources (LONDON:RRS), which fell 4.32% or 240.00 points to trade at 5310.00 at the close. Fresnillo Plc (LONDON:FRES) declined 4.12% or 37.00 points to end at 860.00 and Anglo American (LONDON:AAL) was down 2.26% or 26.50 points to 1145.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1038 to 993 and 394 ended unchanged.
Gold for April delivery was down 2.46% or 31.00 to $1231.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in March rose 2.75% or 1.39 to hit $51.87 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract rose 2.73% or 1.54 to trade at $58.12 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.50% to 1.5250, while EUR/GBP fell 0.81% to 0.7427.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.21% at 94.80.
