Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Gas Water & Multiutilities and Oil & Gas Producers sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 rose 0.49%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Tullow Oil Plc (LONDON:TLW), which rose 6.12% or 17.20 points to trade at 298.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Centrica Plc (LONDON:CNA) added 4.97% or 11.90 points to end at 251.20 and Petrofac (LONDON:PFC) was up 3.70% or 30.50 points to 855.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Antofagasta (LONDON:ANTO), which fell 2.83% or 20.00 points to trade at 687.00 at the close. CRH (LONDON:CRH) declined 2.54% or 44.00 points to end at 1687.00 and WM Morrison Supermarkets PLC (LONDON:MRW) was down 2.19% or 4.50 points to 201.30.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1078 to 1032 and 352 ended unchanged.
Gold for April delivery was down 0.39% or 4.50 to $1148.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in May fell 0.82% or 0.38 to hit $45.75 a barrel, while the May Brent Oil contract fell 0.58% or 0.32 to trade at $53.62 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.57% to 1.4746, while EUR/GBP rose 0.83% to 0.7185.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.16% at 99.97.
