Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Electronic & Electrical Equipment, Construction & Materials and Forestry & Paper sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 rose 0.28%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Aggreko (LONDON:AGGK), which rose 3.76% or 57.00 points to trade at 1572.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Royal Mail (LONDON:RMG) added 3.60% or 15.20 points to end at 437.60 and International Airlines Group (LONDON:ICAG) was up 3.02% or 16.50 points to 562.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Coca Cola HBC AG (LONDON:CCH), which fell 2.33% or 26.0 points to trade at 1089.0 at the close. Sports Direct Intl Plc (LONDON:SPD) declined 1.94% or 13.00 points to end at 657.00 and Antofagasta (LONDON:ANTO) was down 1.69% or 12.00 points to 699.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1030 to 993 and 393 ended unchanged.
Gold for April delivery was down 0.87% or 10.10 to $1150.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in April fell 1.04% or 0.50 to hit $47.79 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract rose 1.55% or 0.88 to trade at $57.27 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.79% to 1.4950, while EUR/GBP fell 0.44% to 0.7069.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.97% at 99.56.
