Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mobile Telecommunications and Technology Hardware & Equipment sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 rose 0.38% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Glencore Xstrata Plc (LONDON:GLEN), which rose 3.02% or 8.55 points to trade at 292.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Standard Life Plc (LONDON:SL) added 2.72% or 11.10 points to end at 419.60 and Weir Group (LONDON:WEIR) was up 2.63% or 49.00 points to 1911.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were International Airlines Group (LONDON:ICAG), which fell 2.31% or 13.00 points to trade at 551.00 at the close. Carnival (LONDON:CCL) declined 2.28% or 67.00 points to end at 2875.00 and Centrica Plc (LONDON:CNA) was down 1.95% or 5.00 points to 252.10.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1190 to 841 and 400 ended unchanged.

Gold for April delivery was up 0.07% or 0.80 to $1208.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in April fell 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $51.81 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract rose 0.74% or 0.45 to trade at $60.66 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.25% to 1.5375, while EUR/GBP rose 0.20% to 0.7390.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 94.47.
