Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the General Industrials, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 rose 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Tullow Oil Plc (LONDON:TLW), which rose 5.61% or 22.20 points to trade at 418.10 at the close. Meanwhile, BT Group (LONDON:BT) added 4.49% or 19.00 points to end at 442.00 and Hargreaves Lansdown Plc (LONDON:HRGV) was up 3.52% or 34.00 points to 1000.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Astrazeneca Plc (LONDON:AZN), which fell 3.39% or 159.00 points to trade at 4529.00 at the close. easyJet Plc (LONDON:EZJ) declined 2.92% or 52.00 points to end at 1726.00 and Vodafone Group PLC (LONDON:VOD) was down 2.37% or 5.60 points to 230.90.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1213 to 844 and 395 ended unchanged.
Gold for April delivery was down 0.17% or 2.20 to $1262.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in March rose 5.55% or 2.69 to hit $51.14 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract rose 5.25% or 2.85 to trade at $57.01 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.76% to 1.5296, while EUR/GBP rose 0.07% to 0.7477.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.70% at 93.92.
