Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Construction & Materials, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Oil & Gas Producers sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 rose 0.49%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Tullow Oil Plc (LONDON:TLW), which rose 9.31% or 34.00 points to trade at 399.00 at the close. Meanwhile, CRH (LONDON:CRH) added 7.17% or 115.00 points to end at 1718.00 and BG Group (LONDON:BG) was up 5.33% or 47.30 points to 934.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were easyJet Plc (LONDON:EZJ), which fell 6.45% or 120.00 points to trade at 1742.00 at the close. International Airlines Group (LONDON:ICAG) declined 2.75% or 15.00 points to end at 529.50 and Carnival (LONDON:CCL) was down 2.54% or 76.00 points to 2921.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1131 to 1006 and 346 ended unchanged.
Gold for April delivery was down 0.21% or 2.70 to $1276.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in March rose 1.82% or 0.88 to hit $49.12 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract rose 2.42% or 1.28 to trade at $54.27 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.24% to 1.5029, while EUR/GBP rose 0.69% to 0.7548.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 94.75.
