Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mining, Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 rose 0.52%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Fresnillo Plc (LONDON:FRES), which rose 4.00% or 35.00 points to trade at 911.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Glencore Xstrata Plc (LONDON:GLEN) added 3.94% or 9.75 points to end at 257.45 and Sports Direct Intl Plc (LONDON:SPD) was up 3.68% or 27.00 points to 760.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Coca Cola HBC AG (LONDON:CCH), which fell 5.79% or 65.0 points to trade at 1057.0 at the close. Admiral Group Plc (LONDON:ADML) declined 2.48% or 36.00 points to end at 1416.00 and Associated British Foods (LONDON:ABF) was down 2.02% or 63.00 points to 3050.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1234 to 852 and 363 ended unchanged.
Shares in Coca Cola HBC AG (LONDON:CCH) fell to all time lows; losing 5.79% or 65.0 to 1057.0.
Gold for February delivery was up 1.51% or 19.30 to $1296.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in March fell 4.01% or 1.97 to hit $47.16 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract fell 0.93% or 0.46 to trade at $48.38 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.34% to 1.5163, while EUR/GBP fell 0.72% to 0.7624.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.40% at 93.22.
