Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Construction & Materials, Automobiles & Parts and Technology Hardware & Equipment sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 rose 0.54%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Dixons Carphone (LONDON:DC), which rose 4.44% or 19.00 points to trade at 446.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Coca Cola HBC AG (LONDON:CCH) added 4.18% or 45.0 points to end at 1122.0 and Travis Perkins (LONDON:TPK) was up 3.81% or 68.00 points to 1852.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Glencore Xstrata Plc (LONDON:GLEN), which fell 1.92% or 4.85 points to trade at 247.70 at the close. Bhp Billiton (LONDON:BLT) declined 1.44% or 20.00 points to end at 1368.00 and Rio Tinto (LONDON:RIO) was down 1.12% or 32.50 points to 2856.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1355 to 678 and 402 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.02% or 0.30 to $1276.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in March fell 2.24% or 1.10 to hit $48.03 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract fell 2.26% or 1.14 to trade at $49.03 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.07% to 1.5140, while EUR/GBP rose 0.55% to 0.7677.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.29% at 92.77.
