Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Mining and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 rose 0.79%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were BP Plc (LONDON:BP), which rose 5.29% or 20.75 points to trade at 413.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Glencore Xstrata Plc (LONDON:GLEN) added 4.97% or 11.95 points to end at 252.55 and BG Group (LONDON:BG) was up 3.91% or 32.10 points to 852.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were easyJet Plc (LONDON:EZJ), which fell 2.74% or 45.00 points to trade at 1600.00 at the close. Meggitt (LONDON:MGGT) declined 1.74% or 9.00 points to end at 509.00 and Associated British Foods (LONDON:ABF) was down 1.72% or 54.00 points to 3093.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1072 to 1000 and 355 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was up 1.05% or 13.30 to $1278.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in February rose 2.42% or 1.12 to hit $47.37 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract rose 1.54% or 0.74 to trade at $49.02 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.23% to 1.5147, while EUR/GBP fell 0.54% to 0.7617.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.61% at 93.08.
