Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Transport, Railway & Bus and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.00% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Tokuyama Corp. (T:4043), which rose 4.51% or 19.0 points to trade at 440.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Kajima Corp. (T:1812) added 3.84% or 28.0 points to end at 757.0 and Tokyo Tatemono Co., Ltd. (T:8804) was up 3.00% or 42.0 points to 1442.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sony Financial Holdings Inc. (T:8729), which fell 4.10% or 67.0 points to trade at 1569.0 at the close. Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co. (T:5706) declined 3.65% or 9.0 points to end at 237.5 and Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (T:3099) was down 3.29% or 40.0 points to 1175.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1728 to 1205 and 374 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.62% to 19.63.
Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.24% or 0.11 to $45.46 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.24% or 0.11 to hit $46.52 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.15% or 1.85 to trade at $1225.75 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.21% to 109.31, while EUR/JPY rose 0.23% to 116.87.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 100.43.
