Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Glass and Optoelectronic sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 4.95% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429), which rose 9.97% or 1.55 points to trade at 17.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Chia Ta World Co Ltd (TW:2033) added 9.73% or 1.45 points to end at 16.35 and Giant Manufacturing Co Ltd (TW:9921) was up 4.18% or 6.50 points to 162.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Taiwan Glass Ind Corp (TW:1802), which fell 10.00% or 1.85 points to trade at 16.65 at the close. Unitech Printed Circuit Board Corp (TW:2367) declined 10.00% or 2.30 points to end at 20.70 and AVerMedia Technologies Inc (TW:2417) was down 10.00% or 1.45 points to 13.05.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 887 to 19 and 9 ended unchanged.
Shares in Chia Ta World Co Ltd (TW:2033) rose to 5-year highs; up 9.73% or 1.45 to 16.35.
Crude oil for March delivery was down 1.06% or 0.68 to $63.47 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 1.04% or 0.70 to hit $66.92 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.71% or 9.50 to trade at $1346.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.18% to 29.355, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2130.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 89.47.
