Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Glass sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 2.98% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Global View (TW:3040), which rose 9.98% or 2.90 points to trade at 31.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Super Dragon (TW:9955) added 9.76% or 1.60 points to end at 18.00 and X-Legend (TW:4994) was up 5.02% or 3.30 points to 69.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Microelectroni (TW:2314), which fell 9.98% or 2.50 points to trade at 22.55 at the close. Optimax Technology Corp (TW:3051) declined 9.97% or 0.34 points to end at 3.07 and Nafco (TW:3004) was down 9.96% or 5.40 points to 48.80.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 805 to 38 and 29 ended unchanged.
Shares in Optimax Technology Corp (TW:3051) fell to 52-week lows; down 9.97% or 0.34 to 3.07. Shares in Nafco (TW:3004) fell to 52-week lows; falling 9.96% or 5.40 to 48.80.
Crude oil for December delivery was down 2.29% or 1.03 to $43.95 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 2.13% or 0.98 to hit $45.06 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 3.82% or 48.65 to trade at $1323.15 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.18% to 31.556, while TWD/CNY rose 1.72% to 0.2189.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.49% at 96.42.
