Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Computers & Peripherals and Optoelectronic sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 2.96% to hit a new 6-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Meiloon Ind (TW:2477), which rose 9.62% or 1.15 points to trade at 13.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Avermedia Tech (TW:2417) added 9.61% or 1.10 points to end at 12.55 and Coadna (TW:4984) was up 5.15% or 1.85 points to 37.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Min Aik (TW:3060), which fell 10.00% or 8.50 points to trade at 76.50 at the close. Systex (TW:6214) declined 10.00% or 6.80 points to end at 61.20 and Taiwan Paiho (TW:9938) was down 10.00% or 7.70 points to 69.30.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 795 to 49.
Shares in Min Aik (TW:3060) fell to 52-week lows; losing 10.00% or 8.50 to 76.50.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.14% or 0.59 to $51.73 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.99% or 0.56 to hit $56.29 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.47% or 5.40 to trade at $1147.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.31% to 31.063, while TWD/CNY rose 0.15% to 0.2010.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.17% at 96.72.
