Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Information Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 2.41% to hit a new 6-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Everfocus Elec (TW:5484), which rose 8.09% or 0.41 points to trade at 5.48 at the close. Meanwhile, Lan Fa Textile (TW:1459) added 5.37% or 0.65 points to end at 12.75 and Pou Chen (TW:9904) was up 4.18% or 1.75 points to 43.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Qisda (TW:2352), which fell 10.00% or 1.00 points to trade at 9.00 at the close. Via Tech (TW:2388) declined 10.00% or 0.51 points to end at 4.59 and Gigastorage (TW:2406) was down 10.00% or 2.10 points to 18.90.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 796 to 49.
Shares in Qisda (TW:2352) fell to 52-week lows; falling 10.00% or 1.00 to 9.00. Shares in Via Tech (TW:2388) fell to all time lows; down 10.00% or 0.51 to 4.59. Shares in Gigastorage (TW:2406) fell to 52-week lows; losing 10.00% or 2.10 to 18.90.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.21% or 0.10 to $48.04 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.12% or 0.07 to hit $54.69 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.55% or 16.80 to trade at $1102.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.07% to 31.498, while TWD/CNY rose 0.40% to 0.1984.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 97.03.
