Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , Semiconductor and Electronic Parts/Components sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 2.39%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Asmedia (TW:5269), which rose 9.89% or 21.50 points to trade at 239.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Svbi (TW:1786) added 9.85% or 6.00 points to end at 66.90 and Aver (TW:3669) was up 6.84% or 1.30 points to 20.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ta Jiang (TW:1453), which fell 9.87% or 1.15 points to trade at 10.50 at the close. Yu Foung Intl (TW:1438) declined 9.84% or 0.56 points to end at 5.13 and Iron Force (TW:2228) was down 9.18% or 13.50 points to 133.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 770 to 74.
Shares in Asmedia (TW:5269) rose to all time highs; up 9.89% or 21.50 to 239.00. Shares in Yu Foung Intl (TW:1438) fell to 52-week lows; losing 9.84% or 0.56 to 5.13.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.53% or 0.92 to $58.72 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.26% or 0.80 to hit $62.46 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.77% or 9.00 to trade at $1182.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.51% to 30.970, while TWD/CNY fell 0.80% to 0.1984.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.38% at 95.96.
