Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Electronic Parts/Components sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 2.34%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Kuangli Photoelectric Technology Co Ltd (TW:6431), which rose 10.00% or 1.35 points to trade at 14.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Patec Precision Industry Co Ltd (TW:2236) added 9.87% or 2.95 points to end at 32.85 and Tai Twun Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3432) was up 8.62% or 1.25 points to 15.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429), which fell 10.00% or 1.06 points to trade at 9.54 at the close. Hotel Holiday Garden (TW:2702) declined 10.00% or 2.90 points to end at 26.10 and Chilisin Electronics Corp (TW:2456) was down 9.98% or 9.70 points to 87.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 831 to 54 and 26 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 1.30% or 0.69 to $52.20 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 1.09% or 0.67 to hit $60.89 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.03% or 0.40 to trade at $1242.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.22% to 30.871, while TWD/CNY rose 0.27% to 0.2230.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 97.072.
