Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , Plastic and Iron & Steel sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 2.06%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were G-Tech (TW:3149), which rose 9.98% or 0.98 points to trade at 10.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Everfocus Elec (TW:5484) added 9.93% or 0.400 points to end at 4.430 and Taroko Texl (TW:1432) was up 8.33% or 1.70 points to 22.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Inotera Memo (TW:3474), which fell 9.86% or 2.90 points to trade at 26.50 at the close. Hung Sheng Con (TW:2534) declined 9.76% or 1.60 points to end at 14.80 and Hsin Ba Ba (TW:9906) was down 9.62% or 2.30 points to 21.60.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 701 to 104 and 47 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 1.32% or 0.65 to $48.42 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.27% or 0.64 to hit $49.90 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.73% or 9.35 to trade at $1285.25 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.62% to 32.424, while TWD/CNY rose 0.40% to 0.2033.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 94.61.
