Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Plastic and Cement sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 1.61%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Paragon Tech (TW:3518), which rose 9.87% or 2.25 points to trade at 25.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Sintronic Tech (TW:3536) added 9.84% or 1.25 points to end at 13.95 and Aoc (TW:6289) was up 9.77% or 0.130 points to 1.460 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were F-Pcl (TW:4977), which fell 7.65% or 4.40 points to trade at 53.10 at the close. Htc Corp (TW:2498) declined 7.21% or 7.50 points to end at 96.50 and Nafco (TW:3004) was down 5.55% or 3.30 points to 56.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 645 to 137 and 71 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sintronic Tech (TW:3536) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.84% or 1.25 to 13.95.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.02% or 0.01 to $46.59 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $47.95 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.75% or 10.25 to trade at $1368.95 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.37% to 32.390, while TWD/CNY rose 0.15% to 0.2056.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 96.38.
