Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Semiconductor and Other Electronic sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 1.43% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Holy Stone Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3026), which rose 9.98% or 8.30 points to trade at 91.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Epileds Technologies Inc (TW:4956) added 9.90% or 2.45 points to end at 27.20 and Parpro Corp (TW:4916) was up 9.86% or 3.15 points to 35.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lemtech Holdings Co Ltd (TW:4912), which fell 10.00% or 18.00 points to trade at 162.00 at the close. Epistar Corp (TW:2448) declined 7.85% or 4.60 points to end at 54.00 and Cheer Time Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3229) was down 6.85% or 1.50 points to 20.40.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 505 to 291 and 84 ended unchanged.
Shares in Holy Stone Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3026) rose to 5-year highs; rising 9.98% or 8.30 to 91.50. Shares in Epileds Technologies Inc (TW:4956) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.90% or 2.45 to 27.20.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.31% or 0.18 to $57.48 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.45% or 0.28 to hit $62.81 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.07% or 0.94 to trade at $1283.04 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.10% to 30.011, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2207.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 93.12.
