Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , Cement and Optoelectronic sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 1.12%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Chiu Ting Machinery Co Ltd (TW:1539), which rose 9.26% or 2.50 points to trade at 29.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Evertex Fabrinology Ltd (TW:1470) added 6.43% or 1.10 points to end at 18.20 and SCI Pharmtech Inc (TW:4119) was up 5.04% or 4.00 points to 83.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Asia Optical Co Inc (TW:3019), which fell 10.00% or 7.70 points to trade at 69.30 at the close. Maxigen Biotech Inc (TW:1783) declined 10.00% or 2.80 points to end at 25.20 and Mospec Semiconductor Corp (TW:2434) was down 10.00% or 1.40 points to 12.60.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 714 to 140 and 64 ended unchanged.
Shares in Chiu Ting Machinery Co Ltd (TW:1539) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.26% or 2.50 to 29.50. Shares in Asia Optical Co Inc (TW:3019) fell to 52-week lows; falling 10.00% or 7.70 to 69.30. Shares in SCI Pharmtech Inc (TW:4119) rose to 52-week highs; up 5.04% or 4.00 to 83.30.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.69% or 0.47 to $68.22 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.81% or 0.62 to hit $77.45 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.17% or 2.10 to trade at $1198.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.05% to 30.832, while TWD/CNY rose 0.18% to 0.2214.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 95.44.
