Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Semiconductor sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 1.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429), which rose 9.86% or 1.05 points to trade at 11.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Chaun-Choung Technology Corp (TW:6230) added 9.65% or 11.00 points to end at 125.00 and Roo Hsing Co Ltd (TW:4414) was up 9.20% or 1.20 points to 14.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Jui Li Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:1512), which fell 9.93% or 0.71 points to trade at 6.44 at the close. Green Energy Technology Inc (TW:3519) declined 9.90% or 0.40 points to end at 3.64 and Career Technology MFG Co Ltd (TW:6153) was down 9.86% or 2.85 points to 26.05.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 677 to 157 and 75 ended unchanged.
Shares in Jui Li Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:1512) fell to 52-week lows; losing 9.93% or 0.71 to 6.44. Shares in Chaun-Choung Technology Corp (TW:6230) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.65% or 11.00 to 125.00. Shares in Green Energy Technology Inc (TW:3519) fell to all time lows; losing 9.90% or 0.40 to 3.64. Shares in Career Technology MFG Co Ltd (TW:6153) fell to 52-week lows; falling 9.86% or 2.85 to 26.05.
Crude oil for February delivery was down 2.03% or 0.98 to $47.19 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 1.48% or 0.85 to hit $56.39 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.49% or 6.20 to trade at $1250.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.20% to 30.809, while TWD/CNY rose 0.31% to 0.2240.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 96.287.
