Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , Semiconductor and Communication and Internet sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 1.02%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Champion Micro (TW:3257), which rose 10.00% or 3.75 points to trade at 41.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Walsin Tech (TW:2492) added 9.87% or 3.05 points to end at 33.95 and Waffer Tech (TW:6235) was up 8.28% or 1.20 points to 15.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were China Tv (TW:9928), which fell 9.38% or 0.53 points to trade at 5.12 at the close. Tpk Holding (TW:3673) declined 6.58% or 4.30 points to end at 61.00 and Fu Hsing Indu (TW:9924) was down 6.26% or 3.10 points to 46.40.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 426 to 304 and 126 ended unchanged.
Shares in Walsin Tech (TW:2492) rose to 3-years highs; up 9.87% or 3.05 to 33.95.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.53% or 0.22 to $40.92 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.42% or 0.18 to hit $43.05 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.04% or 0.55 to trade at $1341.75 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.05% to 31.931, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.2083.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 96.38.
