Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Electronic Products Distribution sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.99% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Chuwa Wool Industry Co Taiwan Ltd (TW:1439), which rose 9.85% or 2.70 points to trade at 30.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Uniflex Technology Inc (TW:3321) added 9.80% or 1.50 points to end at 16.80 and Rectron Ltd (TW:2302) was up 9.80% or 0.80 points to 8.96 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Elite Advanced Laser Corp (TW:3450), which fell 10.00% or 8.90 points to trade at 80.10 at the close. Global PMX Co Ltd (TW:4551) declined 10.00% or 10.80 points to end at 97.20 and Tung Kai Technology Engineering Co Ltd (TW:3018) was down 9.99% or 6.90 points to 62.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 624 to 186 and 101 ended unchanged.
Shares in Elite Advanced Laser Corp (TW:3450) fell to 52-week lows; losing 10.00% or 8.90 to 80.10. Shares in Global PMX Co Ltd (TW:4551) fell to 52-week lows; down 10.00% or 10.80 to 97.20.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.27% or 0.18 to $66.86 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.11% or 0.08 to hit $72.38 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.48% or 5.80 to trade at $1194.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.11% to 30.858, while TWD/CNY rose 0.18% to 0.2226.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 96.65.
