Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Other Electronic and Semiconductor sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.93%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Tripod Technology Corp (TW:3044), which rose 9.61% or 9.60 points to trade at 109.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Crowell Development Corp (TW:2528) added 7.40% or 1.55 points to end at 22.50 and Vivotek Inc (TW:3454) was up 5.96% or 5.30 points to 94.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kaori Heat Treatment Co Ltd (TW:8996), which fell 10.00% or 4.20 points to trade at 37.80 at the close. Waffer Technology Corp (TW:6235) declined 9.36% or 1.75 points to end at 16.95 and Aurotek Corp (TW:6215) was down 5.95% or 1.00 points to 15.80.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 579 to 214 and 86 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tripod Technology Corp (TW:3044) rose to 5-year highs; up 9.61% or 9.60 to 109.50. Shares in Kaori Heat Treatment Co Ltd (TW:8996) fell to 52-week lows; down 10.00% or 4.20 to 37.80. Shares in Crowell Development Corp (TW:2528) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 7.40% or 1.55 to 22.50.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.39% or 0.19 to $48.98 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.46% or 0.24 to hit $51.90 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.70% or 8.85 to trade at $1271.45 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.06% to 30.214, while TWD/CNY fell 0.45% to 0.2201.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 93.49.
