Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Glass and Other sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.84%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Oceanic Bevera (TW:1213), which rose 6.21% or 1.05 points to trade at 17.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Casetek (TW:5264) added 6.10% or 10.00 points to end at 174.00 and Gordon Auto (TW:1524) was up 5.43% or 0.38 points to 7.38 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ruentex (TW:9945), which fell 10.00% or 4.70 points to trade at 42.30 at the close. Ruentex Ind (TW:2915) declined 9.93% or 5.70 points to end at 51.70 and Prime Eltrs (TW:6152) was down 9.80% or 1.20 points to 11.05.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 684 to 116 and 50 ended unchanged.
Shares in Gordon Auto (TW:1524) rose to 52-week highs; rising 5.43% or 0.38 to 7.38.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.94% or 0.37 to $39.02 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 1.03% or 0.42 to hit $40.45 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.11% or 1.30 to trade at $1220.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.27% to 32.628, while TWD/CNY rose 0.30% to 0.2011.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 96.03.
