Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Semiconductor and Electronic Parts/Components sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.77%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Solytech Enterprise Corp (TW:1471), which rose 9.98% or 0.52 points to trade at 5.73 at the close. Meanwhile, Taiwan Prosperity Chemical Corp (TW:4725) added 9.96% or 3.50 points to end at 38.65 and First Copper Technology Co Ltd (TW:2009) was up 9.93% or 1.35 points to 14.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Formosa Laboratories Inc (TW:4746), which fell 8.94% or 6.00 points to trade at 61.10 at the close. Merry Electronics Co Ltd (TW:2439) declined 7.69% or 15.00 points to end at 180.00 and Arcadyan Technology Corp (TW:3596) was down 7.54% or 4.10 points to 50.30.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 481 to 302 and 106 ended unchanged.
Shares in Formosa Laboratories Inc (TW:4746) fell to 52-week lows; down 8.94% or 6.00 to 61.10. Shares in Taiwan Prosperity Chemical Corp (TW:4725) rose to 3-years highs; up 9.96% or 3.50 to 38.65. Shares in First Copper Technology Co Ltd (TW:2009) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 9.93% or 1.35 to 14.95.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.78% or 0.49 to $63.45 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.46% or 0.32 to hit $69.14 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.27% or 3.50 to trade at $1310.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.25% to 29.618, while TWD/CNY fell 0.14% to 0.2205.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 92.27.
