Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Paper & Pulp sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.70%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Ace Pillar Co Ltd (TW:8374), which rose 10.00% or 3.75 points to trade at 41.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Chailease Holding Co Ltd (TW:5871) added 9.92% or 7.90 points to end at 87.50 and Ta Jiang Co Ltd (TW:1453) was up 9.89% or 0.81 points to 9.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ene Technology Inc (TW:6243), which fell 9.96% or 2.55 points to trade at 23.05 at the close. Paragon Technologies Co Ltd (TW:3518) declined 9.88% or 3.30 points to end at 30.10 and General Interface Solution GIS Holding Ltd (TW:6456) was down 9.43% or 25.50 points to 245.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 568 to 209 and 100 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ace Pillar Co Ltd (TW:8374) rose to 5-year highs; up 10.00% or 3.75 to 41.25.
Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.05% or 0.03 to $56.84 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.11% or 0.07 to hit $63.56 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.04% or 0.53 to trade at $1284.23 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.05% to 30.169, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2201.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 94.66.
