Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Semiconductor sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.67%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Via Tech (TW:2388), which rose 9.63% or 1.05 points to trade at 11.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Hannstar Touch (TW:3049) added 8.38% or 0.61 points to end at 7.89 and Bestec Power (TW:3308) was up 6.78% or 0.56 points to 8.82 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Global Lightin (TW:4935), which fell 6.92% or 5.00 points to trade at 67.30 at the close. Lung Hwa Eltrs (TW:2424) declined 6.25% or 1.40 points to end at 21.00 and Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348) was down 4.85% or 1.00 points to 19.60.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 536 to 239 and 90 ended unchanged.
Shares in Lung Hwa Eltrs (TW:2424) fell to 3-years lows; falling 6.25% or 1.40 to 21.00.
Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.24% or 0.12 to $49.30 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.36% or 0.18 to hit $50.16 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.19% or 2.45 to trade at $1269.05 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.39% to 31.677, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2142.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 98.67.
