Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Machinery and Electricity sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.58%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were I-Chiun Precision Industry Co Ltd (TW:2486), which rose 9.86% or 1.40 points to trade at 15.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Rectron Ltd (TW:2302) added 9.81% or 0.96 points to end at 10.75 and Alchip Technologies Ltd (TW:3661) was up 4.55% or 6.00 points to 138.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Calin Technology Co Ltd (TW:4976), which fell 9.98% or 5.90 points to trade at 53.20 at the close. Universal Microelectronics Co Ltd (TW:2413) declined 9.96% or 3.40 points to end at 30.75 and Ennoconn Corp (TW:6414) was down 9.89% or 41.00 points to 373.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 727 to 131 and 61 ended unchanged.
Shares in I-Chiun Precision Industry Co Ltd (TW:2486) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 9.86% or 1.40 to 15.60. Shares in Ennoconn Corp (TW:6414) fell to 52-week lows; falling 9.89% or 41.00 to 373.50.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.05% or 0.78 to $74.72 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.76% or 0.59 to hit $77.89 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $1241.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.12% to 30.581, while TWD/CNY rose 0.50% to 0.2192.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 94.61.
