Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Glass sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.55%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Cheer Time Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3229), which rose 10.00% or 2.05 points to trade at 22.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Silitech Technology Corp (TW:3311) added 9.90% or 1.50 points to end at 16.65 and Lung Hwa Electronics Co Ltd (TW:2424) was up 7.25% or 2.25 points to 33.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Taimide Tech Inc (TW:3645), which fell 8.99% or 3.90 points to trade at 39.50 at the close. Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348) declined 8.80% or 2.20 points to end at 22.80 and Foxsemicon Integrated Technology Inc (TW:3413) was down 8.71% or 14.50 points to 152.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 690 to 124 and 65 ended unchanged.
Shares in Cheer Time Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3229) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 10.00% or 2.05 to 22.55.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.88% or 0.41 to $46.05 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.72% or 0.35 to hit $48.37 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.17% or 2.19 to trade at $1270.79 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.02% to 30.215, while TWD/CNY rose 0.04% to 0.2251.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 96.86.
