Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Iron & Steel and Electronic Parts/Components sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.50%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Wei Chih Steel (TW:2028), which rose 10.00% or 0.14 points to trade at 1.54 at the close. Meanwhile, Everlight Chem (TW:1711) added 10.00% or 1.90 points to end at 20.90 and Advanced Power (TW:8261) was up 9.92% or 3.05 points to 33.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418), which fell 9.91% or 0.56 points to trade at 5.09 at the close. Chien Shing Ss (TW:2025) declined 9.87% or 0.30 points to end at 2.74 and Aoc (TW:6289) was down 9.80% or 0.15 points to 1.38.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 525 to 311 and 4 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for December delivery was down 1.30% or 0.57 to $43.41 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.92% or 0.43 to hit $47.10 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.14% or 1.60 to trade at $1164.60 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.23% to 32.441, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.1969.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.04% at 96.87.
