Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Trading & Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.38% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Universal Microelectronics Co Ltd (TW:2413), which rose 9.99% or 3.95 points to trade at 43.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Fortune Electric Co Ltd (TW:1519) added 9.79% or 2.10 points to end at 23.55 and Leadtek Research Inc (TW:2465) was up 9.76% or 1.80 points to 20.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Champion Microelectronic Corp (TW:3257), which fell 9.99% or 7.10 points to trade at 64.00 at the close. Sitronix Technology Corp (TW:8016) declined 9.77% or 12.50 points to end at 115.50 and Gigastorage Corp (TW:2406) was down 9.73% or 1.10 points to 10.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 469 to 325 and 121 ended unchanged.
Shares in Universal Microelectronics Co Ltd (TW:2413) rose to all time highs; up 9.99% or 3.95 to 43.50. Shares in Gigastorage Corp (TW:2406) fell to 5-year lows; losing 9.73% or 1.10 to 10.20.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.51% or 0.36 to $70.89 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.76% or 0.58 to hit $76.72 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.17% or 2.10 to trade at $1257.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.11% to 30.453, while TWD/CNY rose 0.32% to 0.2162.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 94.28.
