Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , Chemicals and Electricity sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.27%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Yang Ming Mari (TW:2609), which rose 10.00% or 0.60 points to trade at 6.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Epileds Tech (TW:4956) added 9.93% or 2.15 points to end at 23.80 and Asia Optical (TW:3019) was up 9.91% or 4.95 points to 54.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Genius (TW:3406), which fell 9.85% or 25.50 points to trade at 233.50 at the close. Tatung Co Ltd (TW:2371) declined 7.60% or 1.25 points to end at 15.20 and Formosa Sumco (TW:3532) was down 7.17% or 8.50 points to 110.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 467 to 312 and 98 ended unchanged.
Shares in Asia Optical (TW:3019) rose to 3-years highs; up 9.91% or 4.95 to 54.90.
Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.32% or 0.17 to $53.95 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.30% or 0.17 to hit $55.98 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.38% or 4.75 to trade at $1234.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.13% to 30.814, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.2217.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 100.94.
