Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Cement sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.20%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were SciVision Biotech Inc (TW:1786), which rose 9.92% or 4.45 points to trade at 49.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Acelon Chemicals & Fiber Corp (TW:1466) added 9.87% or 1.10 points to end at 12.25 and Everspring Industry Co Ltd (TW:2390) was up 9.68% or 1.35 points to 15.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429), which fell 9.58% or 1.60 points to trade at 15.10 at the close. Chuwa Wool Industry Co Taiwan Ltd (TW:1439) declined 8.20% or 1.80 points to end at 20.15 and Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348) was down 4.29% or 1.20 points to 26.80.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 419 to 332 and 127 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.25% or 0.12 to $47.52 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.24% or 0.12 to hit $49.59 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.67% or 8.59 to trade at $1291.29 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.03% to 30.073, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2267.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 96.55.
