Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Plastic sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.18%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Unizyx Holding Corp (TW:3704), which rose 8.49% or 1.10 points to trade at 14.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Radiant Opto-Electronics Corp (TW:6176) added 7.17% or 5.90 points to end at 88.20 and Champion Microelectronic Corp (TW:3257) was up 6.19% or 3.00 points to 51.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Loop Telecommunication International Inc (TW:3025), which fell 9.50% or 1.90 points to trade at 18.10 at the close. Green Energy Technology Inc (TW:3519) declined 7.50% or 0.18 points to end at 2.22 and Feng Tay Enterprises Co Ltd (TW:9910) was down 6.53% or 13.00 points to 186.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 450 to 341 and 128 ended unchanged.
Shares in Radiant Opto-Electronics Corp (TW:6176) rose to 3-years highs; rising 7.17% or 5.90 to 88.20. Shares in Green Energy Technology Inc (TW:3519) fell to all time lows; down 7.50% or 0.18 to 2.22.
Crude oil for February delivery was down 1.09% or 0.57 to $51.79 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.94% or 0.58 to hit $60.86 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.32% or 4.15 to trade at $1296.15 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was unchanged 0.00% to 30.783, while TWD/CNY fell 0.27% to 0.2206.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 94.715.
