Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Iron & Steel and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.17%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Taiwan Paiho (TW:9938), which rose 9.87% or 11.00 points to trade at 122.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Aver (TW:3669) added 9.85% or 1.95 points to end at 21.75 and Pao Lung (TW:1906) was up 9.68% or 1.35 points to 15.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chuwa Wool (TW:1439), which fell 9.93% or 2.20 points to trade at 19.95 at the close. Tainan Cayman (TW:5906) declined 8.89% or 0.560 points to end at 5.740 and Cvilux (TW:8103) was down 7.72% or 2.25 points to 26.90.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 399 to 313 and 135 ended unchanged.
Shares in Taiwan Paiho (TW:9938) rose to all time highs; rising 9.87% or 11.00 to 122.50. Shares in Pao Lung (TW:1906) rose to all time highs; gaining 9.68% or 1.35 to 15.30.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 1.03% or 0.50 to $49.19 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.94% or 0.48 to hit $51.35 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.38% or 4.85 to trade at $1274.55 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.33% to 31.447, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.2131.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 96.07.
