Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , Other Electronic and Optoelectronic sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.15%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Gamma Optical (TW:3557), which rose 9.96% or 0.520 points to trade at 5.740 at the close. Meanwhile, Carry (TW:3054) added 9.90% or 1.95 points to end at 21.65 and Acer (TW:2353) was up 7.32% or 1.05 points to 15.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Asia Plastic (TW:1337), which fell 9.18% or 1.85 points to trade at 18.30 at the close. Pec (TW:4916) declined 7.89% or 3.30 points to end at 38.50 and Bestec Power (TW:3308) was down 7.37% or 0.61 points to 7.67.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 577 to 204 and 71 ended unchanged.
Shares in Gamma Optical (TW:3557) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.96% or 0.520 to 5.740.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.81% or 0.35 to $43.51 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.70% or 0.32 to hit $45.77 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.29% or 3.85 to trade at $1313.25 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.17% to 31.680, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2113.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.09% at 95.75.
