Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Auto and Textile sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.07%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Young Optics Inc (TW:3504), which rose 10.00% or 10.00 points to trade at 110.00 at the close. Meanwhile, JSL Construction & Development Co Ltd (TW:2540) added 9.85% or 2.60 points to end at 29.00 and Tatung Co (TW:2371) was up 7.71% or 2.80 points to 39.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tai Twun Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3432), which fell 7.50% or 1.35 points to trade at 16.65 at the close. China Motor Corp (TW:2204) declined 6.30% or 1.80 points to end at 26.75 and Lily Textile Co Ltd (TW:1443) was down 5.96% or 0.49 points to 7.73.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 493 to 308 and 108 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tatung Co (TW:2371) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 7.71% or 2.80 to 39.10.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.24% or 0.16 to $67.59 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.27% or 0.20 to hit $72.70 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.41% or 5.00 to trade at $1222.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.19% to 30.661, while TWD/CNY rose 0.23% to 0.2203.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 94.99.
