Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Semiconductor, Electronics and Electrical/Machinery sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 3.38%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Evertex Fabrinology Ltd (TW:1470), which rose 10.00% or 1.90 points to trade at 20.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Asia Optical Co Inc (TW:3019) added 9.92% or 7.90 points to end at 87.50 and Elite Material Co Ltd (TW:2383) was up 9.92% or 38.50 points to 426.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hung Ching Development & Construction Co Ltd (TW:2527), which fell 10.00% or 4.25 points to trade at 38.25 at the close. King’s Town Construction Co Ltd (TW:2524) declined 10.00% or 10.40 points to end at 93.60 and Metaage Corp (TW:6112) was down 9.98% or 4.85 points to 43.75.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 0 to 0.
Shares in Metaage Corp (TW:6112) fell to 52-week lows; falling 9.98% or 4.85 to 43.75.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.22% or 0.16 to $73.36 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.13% or 0.10 to hit $76.58 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.06% or 1.45 to trade at $2,430.15 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.27% to 32.69, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.60% to 0.22.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 103.08.
