Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Iron & Steel, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Plastic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 1.51% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Twinhead Intl (TW:2364), which rose 9.96% or 0.26 points to trade at 2.87 at the close. Meanwhile, Yieh Hsing Ent (TW:2007) added 9.94% or 0.35 points to end at 3.87 and Chien Shing Ss (TW:2025) was up 9.93% or 0.28 points to 3.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were G.M.I (TW:3312), which fell 8.18% or 0.58 points to trade at 6.51 at the close. Hannstar Touch (TW:3049) declined 7.14% or 0.40 points to end at 5.20 and X-Legend (TW:4994) was down 5.57% or 4.80 points to 81.30.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 558 to 283 and 1 ended unchanged.
Shares in X-Legend (TW:4994) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.57% or 4.80 to 81.30.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.83% or 0.41 to $50.04 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.72% or 0.38 to hit $53.29 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.77% or 8.90 to trade at $1164.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.08% to 32.263, while TWD/CNY fell 0.30% to 0.1965.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.13% at 94.81.
