Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Other Electronic, Trading & Consumer Goods and Cement sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 1.41%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Kpt Industries (TW:1805), which rose 10.00% or 1.00 points to trade at 11.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Advanced Optoelectronic Tech (TW:3437) added 9.95% or 2.80 points to end at 30.95 and Rexon Indu (TW:1515) was up 9.95% or 1.90 points to 21.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tai-I (TW:1613), which fell 9.80% or 0.340 points to trade at 3.130 at the close. Ennoconn (TW:6414) declined 9.71% or 38.50 points to end at 358.00 and Tatung Co Ltd (TW:2371) was down 6.54% or 0.85 points to 12.15.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 494 to 293 and 89 ended unchanged.
Shares in Kpt Industries (TW:1805) rose to 52-week highs; rising 10.00% or 1.00 to 11.00. Shares in Advanced Optoelectronic Tech (TW:3437) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.95% or 2.80 to 30.95. Shares in Ennoconn (TW:6414) fell to 52-week lows; falling 9.71% or 38.50 to 358.00. Shares in Rexon Indu (TW:1515) rose to all time highs; gaining 9.95% or 1.90 to 21.00.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.67% or 0.34 to $51.37 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.65% or 0.35 to hit $54.52 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.07% or 0.85 to trade at $1257.55 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.30% to 30.387, while TWD/CNY fell 0.04% to 0.2266.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 100.41.
