Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Iron & Steel and Machinery sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 1.27%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Genius (TW:3406), which rose 10.00% or 30.50 points to trade at 335.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Tung Kai Tech (TW:3018) added 10.00% or 3.35 points to end at 36.85 and King Core (TW:6155) was up 9.89% or 1.85 points to 20.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tri Ocean Text (TW:1472), which fell 7.64% or 1.20 points to trade at 14.50 at the close. In-Win Dev (TW:6117) declined 5.41% or 1.05 points to end at 18.35 and Young Optics (TW:3504) was down 5.33% or 2.15 points to 38.15.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 606 to 187 and 83 ended unchanged.
Shares in Genius (TW:3406) rose to 3-years highs; up 10.00% or 30.50 to 335.50. Shares in Tung Kai Tech (TW:3018) rose to 3-years highs; up 10.00% or 3.35 to 36.85. Shares in King Core (TW:6155) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.89% or 1.85 to 20.55.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.37% or 0.18 to $49.41 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.38% or 0.20 to hit $52.33 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.30% or 3.81 to trade at $1273.69 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.53% to 30.107, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2283.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 98.98.
