Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Machinery, Optoelectronic and Electronic Parts/Components sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 1.14%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Chang Type (TW:1541), which rose 9.98% or 5.40 points to trade at 59.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Orise Tech (TW:3545) added 9.95% or 3.15 points to end at 34.80 and Kyet (TW:5225) was up 9.94% or 3.15 points to 34.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Wei Chih Steel (TW:2028), which fell 7.61% or 0.150 points to trade at 1.820 at the close. Tainan Cayman (TW:5906) declined 6.15% or 0.400 points to end at 6.100 and Benq Materials (TW:8215) was down 5.50% or 0.85 points to 14.60.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 532 to 212 and 105 ended unchanged.
Shares in Benq Materials (TW:8215) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.50% or 0.85 to 14.60.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.61% or 0.27 to $44.42 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.11% or 0.05 to hit $46.88 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.14% or 1.85 to trade at $1329.95 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.74% to 31.458, while TWD/CNY rose 0.10% to 0.2107.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 95.66.
