Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Electricity, Semiconductor and Optoelectronic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 1.07% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were U-Tech (TW:3050), which rose 10.00% or 1.20 points to trade at 13.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Pan Intl Ind (TW:2328) added 10.00% or 1.55 points to end at 17.05 and Nishoku (TW:3679) was up 9.89% or 5.20 points to 57.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were X-Legend (TW:4994), which fell 6.57% or 3.70 points to trade at 52.60 at the close. Wei Chih Steel (TW:2028) declined 4.12% or 0.070 points to end at 1.630 and Lung Hwa Eltrs (TW:2424) was down 4.04% or 0.95 points to 22.55.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 509 to 215 and 130 ended unchanged.
Shares in U-Tech (TW:3050) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 10.00% or 1.20 to 13.20. Shares in Pan Intl Ind (TW:2328) rose to 52-week highs; rising 10.00% or 1.55 to 17.05. Shares in Nishoku (TW:3679) rose to 3-years highs; rising 9.89% or 5.20 to 57.80. Shares in Lung Hwa Eltrs (TW:2424) fell to 3-years lows; losing 4.04% or 0.95 to 22.55.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.14% or 0.06 to $41.66 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.39% or 0.17 to hit $43.70 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.23% or 3.15 to trade at $1354.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 1.14% to 31.560, while TWD/CNY fell 0.14% to 0.2089.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 95.64.
