Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Electricity, Optoelectronic and Cement sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 1.05%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were SciVision Biotech Inc (TW:1786), which rose 10.00% or 6.30 points to trade at 69.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Tai Twun Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3432) added 10.00% or 1.85 points to end at 20.35 and Tatung Co (TW:2371) was up 9.96% or 2.80 points to 30.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Universal Microelectronics Co Ltd (TW:2413), which fell 10.00% or 2.25 points to trade at 20.25 at the close. Danen Technology Corp (TW:3686) declined 9.91% or 0.56 points to end at 5.09 and Sitronix Technology Corp (TW:8016) was down 9.62% or 11.50 points to 108.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 597 to 242 and 82 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tai Twun Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3432) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 10.00% or 1.85 to 20.35. Shares in Danen Technology Corp (TW:3686) fell to 52-week lows; down 9.91% or 0.56 to 5.09. Shares in Tatung Co (TW:2371) rose to 5-year highs; rising 9.96% or 2.80 to 30.90.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.39% or 0.29 to $74.09 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.65% or 0.50 to hit $77.61 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.49% or 6.20 to trade at $1262.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.25% to 30.367, while TWD/CNY fell 0.14% to 0.2183.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 93.57.
